In 1908, the French psychologists Binet and Simon published their second and most famous series of tests for the diagnosis of the grade of intelligence of children. This series, translated and adapted for American use by Goddard and Whipple, has won for itself widespread acceptance and increasing application by those interested in the education of exceptional children. This widespread practical application has demonstrated that in various minor respects the tests, originally developed for use with French children, are ill adapted to the needs of Americans, and, as a result, many workers are at present engaged in trying
